In a move driven by a bit of whimsy on my own part, I’ve decided to migrate the blog over to tumblr.
Partly needing a change of scenery, partly driving for minimalism, at the heart I’m feeling the tumblr environment, community enablement, and overall UI seems to lend itself better to more sharing and bite-sized bits of content and media. The boxed-in wordpress site felt like it was becoming more of a nesting ground of drafts never to see the light of day.
Here’s a first step in remedying that.
Aside; A handy tool in the process was this wordpress to tumblr exporter that helped pump content across for continuity’s sake. It’s handy, but not perfect. Of course, the stored content (hosted pics, and the like) didn’t make the leap across, and much of the formatting has been garbled to varying extents. There’s a clean-up effort that needs to take place to ensure the old content retains its context after the shift, but in general, the plugin worked as advertised.
